Munch on Mondays

Munch on Mondays

The world produces enough food to feed everyone. Yet, well over half a billion people are suffering from chronic undernourishment. At the same time, around a third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year gets lost or wasted. Individually and corporately we need to act urgently on Jesus’ instruction when he fed the 5,000 in John 6:12; He said, “Let nothing be wasted”.

In partnership with the Co-Op FoodShare scheme we collect perishable food which has past its Display-by Date, and otherwise would be dumped into the bin. This food is then brought to St John’s, Ballyclare on a Monday morning from 11am and made available to people in our community who are struggling to make ends meet.

Munch on Mondays in a very small way makes a massive difference to the lives of people who may not have the money to purchase fresh food. Everything we give away is completely free. If you know of anyone that could be helped through Munch on Mondays, then please direct them to us, or why not come down on a Monday and collect items that you could give to them.
