Our CAP support services
As a United Parish, we have partnered with CAP and provide the following services.
Money worries can impact every area of life from relationships to health and wellbeing. CAP Life Skills is a friendly group that gives people the confidence and decision-making skills they need to survive life on a low income. Members learn practical money saving techniques, such as cooking on a budget, living healthily on less, making their money go further as well as taking part in sessions on building healthy relationships. It’s all about discovering new ways to live for a better future. Courses generally last for 8 weeks and each session starts with a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and something to eat.
CAP developed the Kick Start programme as a means for churches to be able to engage with people online during lockdown although it is also suitable for running face-to-face when life gets back to normal. Sessions relate to mental health and well-being, life after lockdown, money worries and how to overcome them, finding work and landing the ideal role. These courses are short (3 or 4 sessions) but you can dip in and out as you please.
The CAP Money Course is a free course that will teach you budgeting skills and a simple, cash-based system that works. In just a few weeks, you will get to grips with your finances so you can budget, save and prevent debt. Whether you feel pretty organised or whether it’s like a lucky dip every time you try to withdraw cash from your account, the CAP Money Course will help you take complete control of your finances.
